Climate change is arguably the single most important global challenge of 21 st century. It appropriate that in this, our first installment new editorial series Making Waves , we explore some ways microwave technologies have been involved this critical research field. Skipping over obvious but essential roles communications and tracking space-based resource management, instead focus on techniques data these systems provide. We also look at more unusual applications ideas are being enabled by both current future component advances impacts they might local, perhaps someday scales. The intent article to provide reader with links between, references climate science. authors want encourage researchers seek out collaborate proposals directly or indirectly bridge often disparate areas development. They forward responses from engineering science communities via as a means bringing together engineers scientists interested sharing forging collaborations otherwise not form without such stimulus. Future articles will emphasize other potentially high impact fields particular cross-over theory technology.
